Vigilant Freedom Britannia Meets in London

Yesterday, British members of the Center for Vigilant Freedom, held one of their regular London meetings. It was a good networking opportunity for anti sharia activists and allowed us to formulate plans for our national campaign.

It is likely that an important conference will be organised in London to bring an even broader spectrum of people together to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern, and perhaps begin to put pressure on the British government to stop Sharia from to subverting our culture and our institutions.

We will continue the process of developing infrastructure to make our work even more effective as our global networks and contacts continue to expand.

Watch this space for developments.

Unfortunately Sharia is Already Here

I have also posted the following as a comment under: http://beernsandwiches.blogspot.com/2008/07/biassed-bbc-does-bbc-want-sharia-law.html

Unfortunately Sharia is already here.

We have modern heresy laws that aim to suppress religious debate. It seems to me that the Racial and Religious Hatred Act is specifically designed to stifle critical discussion of Islamic theology which is the sort of thing that is outlawed in areas governed or influenced by Sharia.

The public do not realise that it is already infiltrating our institutions. This infiltration needs to be exposed, halted and then reversed. We therefore need to give Sharia more attention not less in order to make people aware of what is happening. Only then can pressure be put on our political parties to enact laws that protect our political and legal structures from subversion.

Heresy laws that hamper reasoned discussion of religious issues need to be repealed. The Sharia finance movement needs to be exposed and people need to stop using banks that offer Sharia products. Banks should not be allowed to grow rich from the dismantling of our culture.

In my opinion the gradual infiltration of Sharia principles into our state and its institutions will ultimately, in the end, result in the implementation of full Sharia. It is not for me to prove this, it is the Government which needs to convince me that my fears are not valid. Unfortunately the Government seems to want to suppress debate on this issue.

Sharia is a total system that is an alternative to our laws and customs and not something that can be absorbed into them. Sharia must be opposed and people need to be liberated from it and not condemned to live under it.

Some Thoughts on Sharia Law

From a comment that I made on a previous post:

Sharia law should not be tolerated and it should be given no status in the British state what-so-ever.

It is an alternative to British law and not something that can enhance it. It is a rival legal system and as such is a threat to the current constitution of the British State. By accepting even the smallest aspect of it we are undermining our own legal and political systems. If we allow one aspect of it on cultural grounds it is likely that more will be demanded on the same grounds.

With regard to fairness, we have to be fair to our own traditions. By allowing Shaira we are undermining our own culture. We have the right to national self-determination and by imposing an alien legal system that runs contrary to our most basic values then we are endangering the future cohesiveness of our country.

If Islamic groups think that it is okay to campaign for Sharia in Britain then we should be campaigning against it globally, including in places like Saudi Arabia. We must remember that non-Muslims who live in areas under Sharia are effectively second class citizens. This is an affront to human dignity and the most basic values of Western civilisation. It should therefore be opposed where ever it stands.

Sharia is something that people should be liberated from not condemned to. As such we should be putting pressure on countries like Saudi Arabia to end this legal system within their borders and explain to them why it is wrong.

Women and non-Muslims have the right to equality under the law. No nation that considers itself civilised can support Sharia where it already exists let alone allow it to take root within its own borders.

In the interests of fairness, I would suggest that no religious laws have any place what-so-ever in our society. Law should apply to the individual, and not be determined by membership of a particular group. The position of power that the Church of England enjoys within the British political system should also be ended.

State policy should be based on rational factors and not superstition. Religion is a matter of personal preference and not state policy. In Europe we have seen in our past what damaging effects giving power to religion has - we must learn from history.
